Everyone, do not forget to upload your excel assignment to Foliotek by next Monday. Double check you listing to make sure you have everything loaded.

It has been a pleasure this semester having you in my class. I wish each and everyone of you success in your chosen career paths.

Class Cancelled - Tuesday, April 14th

Tuesday, April 14, 2009 – CLASS CANCELED

Class has been cancelled due to an infestation of fleas. I received a call around 5:00 today stating that the lab would be sprayed for fleas tomorrow afternoon. An alternative room has been scheduled, but I decided to cancel class to give you time to get caught up and finished up with your projects.

You are to use this time to finalize all remaining projects. You may go ahead and post your reports for your electronic contact as well as you ACCESS lab visit. You do not have to wait until the deadline. Practice, Practice, Practice your Word exam ….. it’s just two weeks away.

For next week, come prepared to ask any remaining questions regarding your projects, including your Excel project.

Have a good week.

Ms. Averitt

Class will meet tonight - weather

At this time, class will meet as scheduled. The following resources are the only official USA information regarding closing. They are:

Phone: 251-460-6999
Your jaguar1 e-mail accounts (in case of closing and/or emergencies, information is sent here)
USA home page. www.southalabma.edu

I ask that you use your best judgement. I understand that many streets and roads are still closed from the previous rains and this additional rain is not going to help the situation. I am aware that many of you commute from various communities in low lying areas, so again, use your best judgement.

I will hand out your Excel assignments tonight. I have also sent a document to your google class accounts. If you have not already done so, please access this document and send back to me via the instructions on the document.

If you have not purchased Foliotek yet, you need to do so by next week. We will load all our projects into Foliotek next week in class, so you need to be there.

Be safe. This morning the news was saying the worst weather was going to hit around 5:00 p.m. today. I have not seen an updated report this afternoon. It is my hope the worst will be over by 6:00 p.m.

Just use your common sense.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break!!! Now.... it's time to get back to work :(

I have sent you an e-mail via your jaguar1 accounts. This e-mail includes several reminder project due dates and some comments regarding your professional blogs.

You will need to bring your flash drives to class for the next several weeks in that we will be working with Excel Spreadsheets. I highly recommend you save the work that we will do in class to your flashdrives, otherwise, you will be redoing work at home.

We just have seven more class meetings before the semester ends. Boy, how time flies when you are having fun. See you in class Tuesday.

RSS feed converter

Hey look what Sam found!!! This free RSS feed converter can convert websites to RSS feed (RSS Feed Converter) I had some difficulty. I tried adding the feed to iGoogle, but just kept getting the main website. I added my feed to the Google Reader and it worked from there. I was successfully able to add the Alabama Public Television Kids Game page to my reader. Try it out. Good luck.

Podcast Music

From this weeks post, sounds like most everyone liked the idea of music to start off their podcast. Starting coming up with some ideas of appropriate music that could be incorportated. I am looking forward to hearing your podcast next week.

Blog Assignments - Photos

So far so good on your blog assignments. Some of you have remembered to make your post ADA accessible, most of you have a little more work to do. Please check your photos in your postings. Refer to your handout regarding how to make your photos ADA accessible in blogger. Please update your pictures. If you get into the habit now, it will make it a lot easier later on.

Check out Kristen's blog post for this week. The two schools she reviewed this week actually left her post. WOW!!!! What great feedback.

Foliotek Update!

The following message is for new students to the Foliotek system.

Foliotek is now available for students new to Foliotek. Please have students log into their Companion and click on the ePortfolio link at the top.

Remember:
Students should print out a copy of the receipt and log out of Foliotek and log out of the eCompanion. Next, log back into the eCompanion and click on the ePortfolio link to view their portfolio. They will not have an additional Foliotek login ID.

Students may have more than one portfolio - Teaching Field and Quality Teaching (QTS). They will need to accept the license agreement for both portfolios.
Students should only upload the document once into their "Files" tab located at the top of their screen. That document can be used to meet numerous standards by associating the document to the standard. This is done by selecting the option to add an existing file rather than uploading a file.
At the present time, students new to Foliotek will only see their teaching field portfolio and Alt. Majors will see Atl QTS. Students requiring Quality Teaching Standards (QTS) will have that portfolio available this week. The link will show up in the same location the Teaching Filed link is on their Foliotek home page.
